Join us as we celebrate the remarkable people who make P.com what it is today! Today, we’re especially excited to introduce one of our secret weapons. Drum roll, please!
…Meet Mr. Mark Bangerter! (Yes, that’s really his name.)
Who’s Mark? Think Viking meets Gladiator meets Sales Sorcerer. And somewhere under all that beard, there’s a really big heart, too.
Name: Mark Bangerter
Role: Director of Sales Operations
Location: Idaho
How long have you been with Publishing.com? About 2.5 years!
If you could sum up Publishing.com with one word, what would it be? And why?
Authentic. The executives at Publishing.com have more integrity than most people I have met in business and are transparent in their dealings with staff and students.
What has been the most unexpected surprise about being part of this team?
The biggest surprise goes along with what I said about being authentic. I have seen Christian and Rasmus be transparent about what was going on in the company on several occasions. I have even seen them make situations right for students when they didn't even have to.
What’s one thing you wish you could tell our students?
I say this whenever I get the chance, but Christian and Rasmus truly care about their success. I don't know how else to say it to drive that point home, but they do.
Who are your greatest mentors (in the world)? Why?
Some of my greatest mentors have been some of my closest friends. They never set out to be my mentors, but they helped me become a better version of myself.
How many books have you published?
What are your publishing goals?
I'd love to get to $10K profit from my publishing business.
What personal goals has this job allowed you to go after?
This job and company have allowed me to focus on my own mental health. It is something that I have neglected for several years. (For most of my life, really.) The openness, communication, and the ability to focus on me have been life-changing. It's also shown me what it is like to be a part of a team and company where people truly care.
What has being part of this team meant for your family?
I have worked remotely for the past 13 years or so. Being a part of this team has allowed me to continue to work remotely and spend more time with my family. It has also allowed me to help my own teenage daughter publish her own books.
Officially, you have to be 18 years old to open your own Amazon account and self-publish your own book. However, Amazon also offers some guidelines for minors who want to make their publishing dreams come true before then!
Here's a snippet of their terms of service:
4.1 Eligibility. You must have an active Program account in order to participate in the Program. You represent that you are at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you reside, whichever is older) and that you are able to form a legally binding contract. A parent or guardian of a minor can open a KDP account and be the Publisher of the minor’s Book.
Did you catch that? You can absolutely help your younger kiddos/nieces/nephews publish a book using your KDP account, and any royalties they earn for their book sales will simply be paid to the bank account you have on file.
We know that the best work happens when you’re happy and healthy, so micromanaging isn’t really our style.
Instead, we focus on cool projects like Publishing.ai and the occasional competitive music trivia Zoom meeting.
