How long have you been with Publishing.com? Since May 2023
If you could sum up Publishing.com with one word, what would it be? And why?
Empowerment. Our platform is dedicated to equipping individuals with the knowledge and tools necessary for successful self-publishing. We empower them to take control of their creative and financial futures.
What has been the most unexpected surprise about being part of this team?
The most unexpected surprise has been the profound impact of witnessing firsthand the transformative journey of our students. From initial manuscript to published work, their growth and success stories have been incredibly inspiring and rewarding. This continuously fuels my passion for the industry and deepens my commitment to our mission.
What’s one thing you wish you could tell our students?
I would tell our students at Publishing.com that the journey of self-publishing is as rewarding as it is challenging. Embrace each step, from the initial draft to the final publication, as a learning opportunity and a chance to hone your unique voice. Remember, your knowledge is valuable and deserves to be shared, so persist and trust in your creative process.
Who are your greatest mentors (in the world)? Why?
So many to list here, but here are a few on my list:
Brené Brown - Her work on vulnerability, courage, and empathy offers profound insights into personal growth and leadership, which all help in building a compassionate and authentic work culture.
Eckhart Tolle - Known for his teachings on mindfulness and presence, which are instrumental in cultivating a sense of calm and focus.
Dalai Lama - His teachings on compassion, inner peace, and resilience have provided spiritual guidance and a deeper understanding of human connections.
Wayne Dyer - Dyer's teachings on self-reliance, positive thinking, and manifesting one's destiny have inspired me on my journey.
Oprah Winfrey - Oprah, like myself, shares the INFJ personality type, known for being one of the rarest in the Myers-Briggs spectrum. This personality is often characterized by a unique blend of introspection, empathy, and a strong sense of intuition. As INFJs, we are deeply driven by our values and a desire to help others, often seeking to find deeper meaning and purpose in our endeavors. Oprah has empowered me through my personal transformation. I always say: "If Oprah can thrive in this complex and demanding world as an INFJ, then I can, too."
There are numerous other mentors I could mention, but I'll pause here to avoid turning this into an entire book! ;)
How many books have you published?
What are your publishing goals?
To start, I aim to author and publish at least five books in the field of marketing, drawing upon my professional expertise and experiences. Additionally, for a touch of personal joy and creativity, I plan to create and publish a series of coloring books purely as a fun and artistic endeavor stemming from my love for coloring.
What personal goals has this job allowed you to go after?
Working at Publishing.com has been instrumental in achieving several personal goals. First, it has deepened my expertise in the publishing industry, fueling both my professional skills and my love for literature and storytelling. Additionally, this role has been pivotal in providing me the flexibility to focus on my own writing endeavors, steadily advancing me toward my ambition of becoming a published author. The job's dynamic nature also encourages continuous learning and adaptation, which aligns perfectly with my personal goal of lifelong learning and self-improvement.
What has being part of this team meant for your family?
Being part of the Publishing.com team has had a profoundly positive impact on my family life. The flexibility of this remote position has been a blessing, particularly since moving to Nevada in 2023. It has allowed me to maintain a healthy work-life balance, enabling me to spend valuable time in California, where I can be there for my aging mother. Working with Publishing.com has given me the peace of mind and the ability to be there for my loved ones, which is immeasurably important to me.
Our team has nearly doubled in size over the past year, and we’re just getting started.
Most of us have personally seen how self-publishing can change lives.
Just ask Rebecca and Mel, who moved their families abroad, or Hayley, who gets to soak up extra time with her grandkids (without feeling guilty about it).
That’s what we call work/life balance.
