Find Out How To Create & Sell Books On Amazon

We’ve all seen those social media posts advertising easy work-from-home gigs. You’re just scrolling social media, minding your own business and then you run into these ads. Often you’re supposed to sign up for a class or attend some weird course. So annoying. Facebook’s especially filled with these, but they’re all over the Internet now, like rabbits multiplying, or that whack-a-mole game where they keep popping up over and over again.

These scams are a dime a dozen, like the Nigerian princes asking you to send them a money order. But did you know that there are real, legitimate, work-from-home jobs you can do to make more money and maybe even replace your main income? It’s true.

Staying In Is the New Going Out

According to some estimates, 30-50% of the American population is introverted. Merriam-Webster.com defines an introvert as “a typically reserved or quiet person who tends to be introspective and enjoys spending time alone.”

If your ideal weekend involves a cup of Green Tea, curled up by the fireplace watching the latest binge-worthy streaming series, we feel you. Going out can be super overrated, expensive and filled with drama. Just like those pandemic t-shirts that read, “Staying in is the new going out,” staying home on a Friday night instead of hitting the clubs can be way better.

And maybe it’s not just the weekends. Maybe you like staying in most days. Maybe you just want to make extra money at home in the evenings. Or every day. And you don’t like fighting traffic, or working in a stale cubicle surrounded by co-workers you don’t even really like that much. Again, we feel you.

Remote Work on the Rise

Remote Work on the Rise

Working from home was on the rise even before the Covid-19 pandemic. As Internet speeds got faster, more options became available for collaboration, video calls, chatting and working together remotely on projects. As of March 2023, a Pew Research study found that 35% of those with remote jobs chose to work from home all the time. Whether those people were all introverts or not, working from home provides tons of perks like flexibility, access to tasty snacks, avoiding traffic and your pet cuddling up on your lap as you work.

The other benefit to work-from-home jobs is that you don’t technically have to “work from home.” You can work from anywhere—your favorite local coffee shop, the library, at the park or on the beach in Florida!

So, introverts rejoice! Let’s dig into the top legitimate ways to work from home to make some extra money.

1. Virtual Assistant

Many businesses and entrepreneurs are looking to hire virtual or executive assistants who can handle administrative tasks, scheduling, email management and other organizational duties. This opens up an awesome opportunity for introverts because you’ll spend your day behind a laptop screen instead of interacting with a ton of people.

According to the freelance website Upwork, the going hourly rate for virtual assistants is between $18 to $35 an hour. Not too shabby.

Virtual assistants handle things like data entry, clerical work, research, proofreading, marketing support, social media management, email support and more. If you enjoy this kind of thing, or even if you’re just open-minded to the work, this could be a great option for you!

2. Freelance Writer or Editor

If you have a knack for writing, put those skills to work as a freelance writer. Or maybe you’ve always had really good attention to detail. You’re constantly catching typos on the restaurant’s menu that your friends’ are glossing over.

Working as a freelance writer, editor or proofreader can be a good way to earn some extra money working from home. You can write content for websites, marketing material, advertising campaigns or blog posts. And it’s creative work that is constantly changing. So you won’t be bored doing it.

3. Graphic Designer

Even with websites like Canva and other free services, graphic designers are still in high demand. And you won’t have to pound pavement on the interstate to get to work. You’ll just have to roll out of bed and fire up your laptop. (Maybe take a shower first, and eat some breakfast. Probably a good idea.)

You might not have a lot of experience in visual design, but you can teach yourself through free courses and Youtube tutorials. Freelance websites like Fiverr and Upwork give you a chance to build up your client base. You can make a portfolio and showcase your creativity to get steady income.

Graphic designers create visual content for websites, logos, marketing materials and more. You might even find you love this kind of creative work, along with helping your clients bring their vision to life.

4. Online Tutoring

If you have expertise in a particular subject, you can offer online tutoring services to students of all ages. Platforms like VIPKid, Chegg and Tutor.com connect tutors with students.

There are also opportunities out there to help students in other parts of the world polish their English. You can make up to $20 an hour by simply talking to Chinese students and giving them a chance to hone their English-speaking skills. And you’ll get to meet people from all walks of life. But if you’re an introvert, maybe you’ll have to take breaks in-between sessions to give yourself some downtime.

5. Web Developer

You might be a little intimidated about this next one, but becoming a freelance web developer is a fantastic and high-paying work-from-home job that anyone can learn. It might take some time to gain the knowledge of software engineering and coding, but once you do, you’ll be able to market yourself to all kinds of clients and companies. There are a ton of bootcamps out there that will teach you everything you need to know about coding.

As a web developer, you’ll build websites for people or develop web applications or mobile apps. And it’s a great job for introverts because you can spend more time on your computer coding as opposed to attending endless corporate meetings.

6. Online Survey Taker

This one’s not sexy, or high-paying, but taking online surveys can be an easy way to bring in some extra money while working from home. Companies like Swagbucks and Survey Junkie offer paid survey opportunities. It can be mindless work, but you can always put on a TV show in the background as you do it. And the paycheck at the end might make it worth it.

7. Social Media Manager

A lot of businesses today outsource their social media management. Some of it is even being done by artificial intelligence, or AI! But a lot of it still requires an actual human to manage social media content and posting schedule. You can also help clients by engaging with their fans or customers and handling some customer service aspects of their business or social accounts.

If you have experience in social media marketing, or you just like that kind of work, you can help companies grow their online presence through content creation, scheduling and engagement.

8. Virtual Bookkeeper

Are you good with numbers? A natural nerd? Do you know your way around a calculator? If so, there are a ton of work-from-home opportunities for accounting and bookkeeping.

If you have the slightest proclivity for accounting and finance, you can provide bookkeeping services online to help businesses with their financial records and transactions. You can also work seasonally during the busy tax season and then take off at different times throughout the year to relax.

We saved the best one for last! You might not consider yourself an author, but stay open-minded. Self-publishing on Amazon is one of the easiest and best ways to make money online in 2023. First, anyone can do it. The bar for entry is very low since you don’t have to wait for your book to be picked by the traditional publishing house gatekeepers. This is perfect for introverts because you don’t have to put yourself out there so much and deal with being rejected constantly. And let’s face it, if you go the traditional publishing route, you’ll have to hear a lot of “no’s” before you start getting a few “yes’s.”

All you need is a vision, some education, willingness to work at it and an idea for a book. Actually, you don’t even need an idea. Our AI Publishing Academy program will show you how to pick a topic for your first eBook and how to publish it to bring in your first sales. Again, it’s easier than you think.

Self-publishing is also perfect for introverts because you don’t even have to use your real name on the cover of your book. You can use a pen name. Chris Stevenson or Jackie Smith. Whatever name you want!
