Introducing...the dream team! The truth is publishing changed our lives, too. These are our stories.
This segment of our blog might be our favorite because we get to show off the incredible human beings who help publishing dreams come true. We hope you get to know and love them as much as we do and walk away feeling more inspired for the rest of your day.
Today, we’re shouting out Rebecca!
Name: Rebecca P.
Role: Product Analyst
Location: Portugal
How long have you been with Publishing.com? 2 years
If you could sum up Publishing.com with one word, what would it be? Authentic.
What has been the most unexpected surprise about being part of this team?
I joined Publishing.com in 2021 with a half-written manuscript and an ambition to expand my knowledge of the audiobook space after working in publishing prior to taking 5 years off from work (and everything else) when I had kids. My deep passion for publishing was shared with the team but in a completely new way. It wasn't just about having a book; it was about becoming a full-fledged financial success! I never imagined that with such a deep drive for profit, a company could be so grounded in genuine authenticity with its mission to help people quit their 9-5 at the forefront of all their decisions.
What’s one thing you wish you could tell our students?
Publishing.com is for writers, too. The knowledge that you gain about promoting and marketing your book along with its production is well worth the cost to learn so you can continue to do it yourself and not have to hire another independent publisher to do it for you. Also, if you know nothing about publishing or writing, you still have a path to amazing success. All you have to do is follow the course in the best way that suits you.
Who are your greatest mentors (in the world)? Why?
Caroline Criado-Perez. She is a leader in advocacy and visibility of traditional feminism and takes actionable measures to infiltrate positive change in flawed systems.
Richard Roll. After discovering his podcast, “The Rich Roll Podcast,” I listen religiously. He is the strongest example of a person who is intelligent, compassionate, driven, and powerful, and I learn so much from him through the questions he asks and the personal growth he shares.
How many books have you published?
What are your publishing goals?
After writing my first book myself and writing a few others under pen names, I am excited to build out my children's education brand with some outsourced help! I have six books currently in the making and big plans for the next year.
What personal goals has this job allowed you to go after?
I was able to move my family to Portugal at the end of December 2023!
What has being part of this team meant for your family?
A greater involvement in our children's lives together with my husband. Teaching our kids about entrepreneurship and the ability to travel!
We’ve got publishing rockstars in every corner of the world, from Canada to Thailand, and we’re always looking for team players with a great freakin’ attitude who believe in billion dollar standards and service that wows.
Want to bop from state to state, enjoying the digital nomad lifestyle? You can do that. Want to move your family abroad and get a fresh start, like Rebecca? You can do that, too. In fact, we encourage it. Travel fills the soul and teaches you a lot about yourself. It’s the reason our co-founders, The Mikkelsen Twins, spent the first part of their publishing careers exploring Asia!
