Let’s dive in!

What Is Audible’s Creator Program

What Is Audible’s Creator Program?

From choosing the right content to cover, to growing your listener base and creating compelling audio productions, podcasting can be a ton of work. So it’s no wonder that you’d like to make some money off of all those hours you’re putting in. Audible’s Creator Program is a great way to do that.

First, what is Audible? (If you’re reading this article, you probably know. But for those who don’t…) Audible is an Amazon-owned company that focuses on digital audiobooks, podcasts and original content. Listeners can subscribe to a monthly plan and then buy credits to download an Audible audiobook. You can also access podcasts and a wide range of other content.

Audible has also become a great way for self-publishers to make extra money on their work. They can simply convert their eBook to the audiobook format and bingo, they have another digital product they can market and sell.

With Audible’s Creator program, you can promote Audible and get paid by using an affiliate link. Their tagline reads: “Make money with a free offer for your listeners.”

The Creator Program is part of Amazon Associates larger program, which is one of the largest and most popular affiliate programs out there.

Here’s how the Audible Creator Program actually works.

How Audible’s Creator Program Works

You, as the podcaster, promote a 30-day free trial of Audible with your own custom URL. Your listeners can then head over to Audible’s free trial landing page. For each person who signs up for the free trial, you earn a $15 commission. Nice! Amazon will pay you each month once you earn at least $30 in commissions. And your listeners will get a free audiobook during the 30-day trial period. A total win-win.

This is a way to surprise and delight your listeners with the free audiobook and trial offer. And it introduces them to the entire world of Audible if they haven’t used it before.

Here’s a little more of how Amazon describes it on their website:

“Provide a natural value to your listeners. You couldn’t ask for a sponsor that’s more aligned with your mission and the interests of your listeners. Audible is the leading provider of digital audiobooks. With over 180,000 audiobooks and more to choose from, you're sure to find one that relates to your listeners. And our free 30-day trial membership lets you offer it to them for free.”

You might be wondering though, “Do I have to push the program really hard to get sign-ups?” Amazon actually addresses this and says that referring listeners to the free trial doesn’t require any selling.

Amazon advises podcasters to, “Just mention the Audible free trial membership during your podcast and encourage your listeners to visit your custom URL. When they do, they'll be directed to our free trial landing page to try our service and download a free audiobook. The most successful podcasters recommend an audiobook they know their audience will enjoy.”

Monetize Your Podcast

Make It Rain!

Audible’s Creator Program is a super-easy way to monetize your podcast. Since Audible is such a widely recognized and trusted platform for audiobooks, your listeners will put more trust in you as well. Your credibility as a podcaster will only go up. And so will your bank account with this new, steady income stream.

If you’re interested in generating another revenue stream for your podcast, sign up for Audible’s Creator program. Start referring listeners and make extra money that you can either invest back into your podcast business—or just take your podcast team out for pizza and ice cream.
